I find language fascinating, and I have always wanted to be a translator. I love the challenge of transferring the meaning and nuance of a text into another language for new readers, researching new domains and learning new information to inform my work, and then crafting a text which appears to have been written directly in the target language.
Clarity in translation is very important to me, so I make sure that the translated text has a clear sense of structure, and will consider the form of sentences to encourage cohesion within the text. When undertaking literary translation, or strong marketing texts, I also examine how the words,punctuation and collocations are used to convey the mood, speed or character of the story.
