LITERARY TRANSLATION

The UK book market is hungry for new voices in fiction, evidenced in particular by the popularity of Scandi noir literature and television series. UK sales of translated fiction are now at their highest recorded rate, with sales jumping 22% between 2022 and 2023. In the UK, 1.9 million copies of translated fiction were sold in the UK. Sales are particularly being driven by readers under 35, who account for nearly 50% of sales of translated fiction.

Overwhelmingly, translated fiction originates in Europe. French is the biggest source of translated fiction, generally accounting for 17% of those sales.

Clearly, now is the time to get your book published for that growing market. However, the globalisation of English and the UK’s natural geography have allowed it to become stubbornly monolingual. So to get noticed by an anglophone audience, your novel will need to be translated into English.

That’s where I can help. Bringing your novel into the world demanded an enormous amount of your time, energy and sacrifice. I’ll be poring over the detail and nuance to get it just right.
